Just wanted to send you a quick note to let you know how much I appreciate you teaching our son. He practices without prompting. He plays because he loves it even more than before. He tells me how much he learns every time he has a lesson with you. And even to my untrained ear his skill has improved.

So thank you for sharing your love of bass with our son. It is evident when you teach and he is absorbing that love. The bass is a beautiful instrument and it makes me smile to hear him playing everyday.

About Josh

Josh is an accomplished bassist with a strong technique and love for the instrument.  He listens well and communicates easily.  He has training in both the Simandl & Rabbath Pedagogies..  He is fluent with both German and French bowing techniques.

The musician:
Starting off in 6th grade Josh studied principally with Forrest Moyer through secondary school with a year under Herman Jobelmann.  During his high school career Josh played with the Corvallis Youth Symphony and Oregon State University Symphony holding positions as Principal in both groups.  Additionally he played with school orchestra, school jazz band, festival orchestras, All State, All Northwest, a summer at Marrowstone, a summer at Interlochen, and a local chamber ensemble.

With an eye towards a career as an orchestra musician Josh attended the University of Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music.  There he studied with Barry Green, Albert Laszlo, and Mark Morton.  In this setting Josh's work ethic really shone as he participated in every orchestra and performance ensemble opportunity available.  At one time he was a member of 5 different performance groups ranging from concert band and the opera pit, to the elite Philharmonica.  Performance experiences took him to Germany, Lincoln Center, and the Aspen Music Festival.

Post graduation Josh taught and gigged before family life compelled him to take a leave of almost 12 years from the instrument and music.
In late 2008 Josh became active again as a community musician and now plays with The Bucks County Symphony, The Montgomery County Chorale, and several Doylestown Church Orchestras.

The person:
Josh is married to Jennifer, his wife of 32 years.  He has two grown daughters.  Professionally, he is an  IT Solutions Consultant.  He enjoys reading and sports.
